Hey, I'm back!
Janet and I got back last night from Washington, DC where we attended the the historic World Parkinson Congress. It was the first international Parkinson conference that was geared for doctors, scientists, researchers and medical health care professionals, as well as for Parkinson patients and caregivers.
The WPC brought together ...

Right now I'm experiencing amnesia and deja vu at the same time--I think I've forgotten this before.
But, anyway...if you want to leave comments in response to the blogs, you no longer have to register. Simply click on the word "Comments" at the end of the blog and type in your ...

Did you know that pastors, in their spare time, meditate on the profound mysteries of life--the deep philosophical and theological issues that have puzzled great minds for ages?
For instance, have you ever wondered...
Why sheep don't shrink when it rains?
Why there isn't mouse-flavored cat food?
Why there aren't B ...

Here's our verse for the week...
"By faith Abraham... obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going."
Ever felt like that? Ever felt like you've come to the end of your map, and you didn't know where you were going? If so, welcome to the journey of ...

Some people collect stamps, or coins, or baseball cards. Some people collect Hummels, or crystal vases, or artwork. My interests aren't quite as exotic. I collect definitions--humorous, profound or insightful definitions.
I thought I'd share a few of my favorites.

It's 9:15 a.m. on Sunday morning. Normally, I'd be getting up to preach in our early service about this time. But not today. There's a blizzard out there.

Your body has 10 to the 28th atoms, i.e. ...

Here's a verse you've probably never seen...
"Kings shall be your nursing-fathers..." (Isa. 49:23, KJV).
I've always been intrigued by that statement, and not just because of the biological incongruity. The prophet is speaking to people in captivity, forced into servitude by invading kings. To this disheartened group of people, kings ...

I guess Punxsutawny Phil was right...winter isn't over yet.
Since 1887, folks have been gathering at Gobbler's Knob in Punxsutawny, Pennsylvania to forecast the weather (using the latest technology). Over the last 119 years, Punxsutawny Phil has been right 38% of the time. In other words, about as reliable as a ...

I was meditating on this verse recently.
"God has not given us a spirit of fear, but [a spirit] of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy, NKJV).
There are many kinds of fears and phobias that we face but, when you think about it, there are three ...
