Defining Moment

Some people collect stamps, or coins, or baseball cards. Some people collect Hummels, or crystal vases, or artwork. My interests aren’t quite as exotic. I collect definitions–humorous, profound or insightful definitions.

I thought I’d share a few of my favorites.

Baby: A handy way of disposing of unwanted cash and filling up free time, while cutting down on unnecessary sleep, curtailing a demanding social life, and curing a neurotic obsession with personal hygiene.

Pedestrian: A man who has two cars, a wife, and one or more teenagers.

Time: God’s way of keeping everything from happening at once.

Patience: Something you admire greatly in the driver behind you, and despise in the driver in front of you.

Collectible: Any object that becomes incredibly valuable six months after you’ve thrown it a way.

Contentment: The ability to enjoy the scenery along the detours.

Dead-end: The starting point to anywhere else in the world.

Consistency: A daily deposit in the bank of trust.

That’s it for this edition of “Defining Moment.” If you have some great definitions, share them with me.
