The Emu and the Kangaroo

Did you know that emus and kangaroos cannot walk backwards. They can only go forward.
It’s for this reason that Australia has an emu and a kangaroo on its official seal…to declare its intention to move forward and not backward.
It might not be a bad idea to use the emu and kangaroo as Christian symbols…to signify our intention as followers of Christ to move forward with Christ, and not backwards.
The Bible says, “Let us press on to know the Lord. His going [forward] is as certain as the [coming of the] dawn” (Hosea 6:3). One thing you can be certain of: God is always moving forward to accomplish His purposes in the earth.
Jesus said it this way: ”The kingdom of God is forcefully advancing…” The movement of the kingdom is always forward…and forcefully so!

I’ve always thought of Paul as a today and forever guy. In Philippians he clearly states that all he attained in the past was “as dung”, and in 3:12-14 he talks of “pressing toward”and “reaching forth”. The “pressing” speaks to me of always moving forward.
