A Graceful Exit and a Glorious Beginning

No, I haven’t fallen off the edge of the world. The world is just spinning faster on its axis!

It’s been some time since I’ve blogged, so I thought I’d give everyone an update on what’s been happening with me and my family. Of course, the highlight of my summer was on July 15th when my daughter Nancy became Mrs. Richard Swanson. I had the privilege of not only walking my daughter down the aisle as her father, but then officiiating at the wedding as her pastor.

Marriage can be summed up as a graceful exit and a glorious new beginning!

The entire day was blessed by a sense of the presence of God, and I couldn’t be happier for Richard and Nancy. I’m very appreciative to everyone who shared our joy on this special day.

It was a special treat to see Richard’s parents, Brad and Sandra, who came up from Bonaire. It’s always a lot of fun to spend time with them. It was also great to see Richard’s grandparents again, as well as the rest of Richard’s family.

Two days after the wedding, Janet and I celebrated our 29th anniversary. After 29 years, Janet is still the love of my life! We had the opportunity to fly to Florida (just the two of us) and spend a week at Dania Beach. The bride and groom are not the only couple that needs a honeymoon after the wedding…the bride’s parents need one too!

Anyway, we’ll be in church this Sunday. Fortunately, I don’t have to prepare a sermon for Sunday. Jeff Rogers will be speaking. It’ll be good to sit back and enjoy the teaching. It’ll be good to be back home and see my church family again.

Nice to see you blogging again. Hooray!
Also glad to hear that you and Janet had a nice break after Rich and Nan’s wedding. It truly was a wonderful day. We also enjoyed getting to meet some nice friendly members of Richard’s new extended family.
Speaking of weddings and anniversarys, Sandra and I will celebrate our 25th a week from today.
