Church: Getting It Right

July 3rd, 2007 | by Ed |

There are a lot of opinions about what makes for a successful church. Depending upon which book you read, a successful church is a megachurch with lots of people…or a Spirit-filled church with lots of enthusiasm…or a busy church with lots of activities…or an evangelistic church with lots of outreach…or, well, you name it.

How does the Bible define a successful church?

One of the clearest descriptions of a “successful” church is given by the apostle Paul in Ephesians 4:1-16. Paul says that the church that’s getting it right is a church that is: (1) Walking together in unity; (2) Serving together in ministry; (3) Growing together in maturity; and (4) Getting connected together in relationships.

This Sunday, I’m continuing our series of messages from Ephesians 4:1-16 entitled “Church: Getting It Right.” We’re presently looking at the importance of growing together in maturity. In my last message, entitled Grow Up!, I shared on the meaning and importance of spiritual maturity.

This Sunday, in a message creatively entitled Grow Up!, Part 2, I will be sharing on the how of developing spiritual maturity in our lives. The means that God uses to mature His people may surprise you.

You won’t want to miss it!
