God’s Strategy For Success
August 3rd, 2007 | by Ed |In my Sunday teaching, I’ve decided not to begin a new series of messages until September. Until then, I’ll be doing individual stand-alone messages (of course I could do a series of unrelated stand-alone messages and call the series Standing Alone).
Those who know me, know that I feel somewhat lost when I’m not in a series of messages (preferably an expository series). A series gives me a track to run on, and a focus for my studies for several weeks or months.
But, because August will be punctuated by vacation time for me and my family, I’ve decided to give several unrelated meditations to finish out the summer.
This Sunday, I’ll be speaking about “God’s Strategy For Success” from Joshua 1. This is one of my favorite passages, and one that I keep coming back to in times of change and transition. If you’re facing major changes or challenges, you’ll want to know “God’s Strategy For Success.”
On September 9th, I begin a new series of messages from the Book of Judges entitled “Unlikely Heroes.” In this often-overlooked, and little-understood, book we find a period of history amazingly like our own and “heroes” amazingly like each of us–people with the potential for greatness and the capacity for catastrophe. You’ll experience the triumphs and tragedies of people like Gideon, Samson and Deborah, and you’ll gain valuable insights into how to live for God in a downward-spiriling society that increasingly does “what is right in [its] own eyes.”
