Aloha!
October 14th, 2007 | by Ed |For the last three weeks, Janet and I have been away on vacation. We flew out to California to spend a few days with Janet’s sister and her family, then flew to Honolulu for a week-long cruise of the Hawaiin islands. We’re celebrating our 30th anniversary (I promised Janet I’d take her to Hawaii every 30th anniversary).
We were joined by Janet’s sister Joan and her husband John, as well as their pastor Ken Bluemel and his wife Cherie. You may remember them–Ken spoke at our church about two years ago. It was great to spend some time with them again.
We didn’t get much time to soak up the rays on Hawaii’s beautiful beaches. We were too busy trekking in the rain forests, climbing mountains, crawling through lava tubes, and exploring volcanoes. Janet did, however, get to go snorkeling several times (I prefer good ol’ terra firma…the firma the better!).
Hawaii is every bit as beautiful and exotic as it’s famous for. I can’t wait for our 60th anniversary!
While I was away, Mark McGrath did a great job of preaching. Today, I got to hear the third message in his series on the kingdom of God. No one knows how to paint a vivid picture to illustrate truth like Mark.
Vacation was a great time to relax and recharge my batteries. But I’m ready to get back into the game and charge full steam ahead. God is doing too many exciting things to sit by and watch.
“The going forth of the Lord is as certain as the dawn.”

Was Ken the guy you admired for sitting on the stairs while preaching and then you wondered if you should do the same? But decided against? I don’t remember what he had said but I clearly remember how he was walking and sitting around. Anyway, opposed to that my memory is crystal clear on the sermon you gave on Jesus’ temptations (we just do it in bible study). Brilliant and oh so relevant.
Warmest greetings from terra firmer South Africa’s Silke
