A Teaching Preview
March 15th, 2008 | by Ed |I’m looking forward to geting back to church again. I still get easily fatigued, but each day I’m getting stronger. I hope to attend the Good Friday service and I am planning to speak at he Easter service.
One advantage to my recuperation is that I get a lot of time to read and pray and think and plan. So I thought I’d give you a preview of my Sunday teaching topics.
On Easter Sunday, my message will be entitled The God of the Third Day. The Old Testament speaks a lot about “three days” and God’s supernatural deliverance on the “third day.” The third day is the day that God shows up and releases His supernatural power for healing, deliverance and restoration. All of which points to the ultimate “Third Day” deliverance–the resurrection of Jesus Christ!
On Sunday, March 30th, I conclude my series “Unlikely Heros” with a message entitled Fatal Attraction. We’ll look at the famous story of Samson and Delilah. In particular, I’ll be illustrating from the life of Samson the danger of gifting without character.
How many people, like Samson, are gifted and anointed with the power of the Spirit, only to find their world colllapse around them because their gifts and anointing are not built on a foundation of character.
Then, in April, I’ll be teaching a 3-messsage series entitled “20/20 Vision: Seeing Clearly Where We’re Going & Who We’re Becoming.” The three messages in this series are:
- Our Prime Directive
- Our Greatest Danger
- Three Open Doors
So there’s a sneak preview of what I’ll be teaching for the next several weeks. I’m excited about what God is doing in our church. The next 12-18 months are going to be one exciting ride, for “the going forth of the Lord is as certain as the dawn” (Hosea 6:3).
