Resurrection Power For Living

March 21st, 2008 | by Ed |

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would you change? Perhaps you would change some aspect of your physical appearance–your height, your weight, your looks. Or, more likely, you would change some aspect of your character or personality–to be more confident, more disciplined, more outgoing, more patient or more loving.

Most people want to change something about themselves. Most people even know what they want to change. But most people don’t have the power to change. We go to seminars and read self-help books which give us principles to live by but they don’t give us the power to live out the principles we learn. We read the Bible, which tells us how we should live, but we wonder how we’ll ever be able to live the life that God expects from us.

The gospel is good news because it not only gives us principles to live by, but gives us the power to live them out. This is the life and power that was released by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is the power “which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead” (Ephesians 1:20). It is the “incomparably great power for us who believe” (Ephesians 1:19). It is the power to recreate us, not just reform us.

Principles tell us, “Do this and live.” God says, “Live, and you’ll do this.” Because He lives, He offers us the promise of new life, and the power to live the life He calls us to.

I want to invite you this Easter to not only commemorate an event that happened a long time ago, but to experience the same resurrection life and power which He makes available to us today.

You stated: Principles tell us, “Do this and live.” God says, “Live, and you’ll do this.” Because He lives, He offers us the promise of new life, and the power to live the life He calls us to.

I wholeheatedly agree! Paul the Apostle learned that the weaker he was, the greater God’s power would manifest in his life - Amen. I’m learning that as well and it’s a great journey.
