“What’s That Saying You Always Say?”

June 1st, 2008 | by Ed |

A wise teacher knows the importance of repetition–the repetition of ideas, the repetition of stories, and the repetition of wise sayings. I’m always asked the question:”What’s that saying you always say?”

So I thought it might be helpful to share with you each week some of the significant sayings that I use in my teaching ministry. This week I want to share with you the top 10 sayings you’ve heard me use over and over…but may not remember exactly how I say it.

Well, here goes.

* Daily Prayer: “Lord, surprise me with your goodness today.”

* God never says, “Oops.”

* You can resign as General Manager of the Universe and let God be God.

* God has this problem: He thinks He’s God!

* God’s posture toward you is “Yes!” Your response is “Amen!” (”So be it”)

* God’s power is only released at the point of our weakness.

* The shortest distance between two points is often a zigzag line.

* The size of your God determines the size of your faith.

* I never met a man who sat down and planned to live a mediocre life.

* When you factor God into the equation of your life, it radically changes the outcome of the equation.

* Religion is like a vaccination–it gives you just enough of the real thing to keep you from getting the real thing.

* God’s unconditional love puts religion out of business, since the job of religion is to teach you how to perform so that God will love you more.

OK, I cheated. I snuck in two extra. We’ll have some more for you next week.
