After the Summit, I rewrite my notes into what I lovingly call "Best Quotes from the Leadership Summit." It's still on my to-do list, but the most memorable quote for me is "Ministry Kills IT," when Pastor Craig shared that he found he ended up being in full-time ministry but had become a part time Christ follower.

That's why I like vacations so much, or since my children are adults now, what has become for me, a study break. It's a time to dig into the Word, prayer, reflection and a time to renew my first Love.

Ed,

Greetings from an old friend.

It's been nearly 24 years since I had last seen you and just over 23 years since our last communication. What a pleasant surprise to have found your blog!

I heard from Tim Dunn about your health condition and have been mindful of you in my prayers since.

You are now, as I always remembered you to be a man of good perspective and faith and a constant source of encouragement. May your devotion and faithfulness overflow in a divine dividend for you and your family.

Please feel free to keep in touch!

Reminds me of the prism you used when you taught Spiritual Gifts. God's grace, which is invisible, shines though His people, as we are obedient and open to His prompting. The result? All of the aspects of God: our Spiritual gifts!

How awesome that He desires to use us ordinary people to bring His Kingdom come! We read it again this week in Called Aside in Matthew 10. Jesus sent out twelve men: fishermen, tax collector, political activist, ordinary Joes, even the one who would betray Him. And what did He tell them to do? Preach the gospel, heal the sick, cast out demons-- bringing the Kingdom -- it had come.

Yes, it's glorious! God's glory, and He uses us! Amazing!

Hey Pastor Ed,

Thank you for this lovely and important reminder--I remember writing this same quote from Richard Foster inside the cover of my Bible when you talked about it years ago, and it keeps traveling with me as I transition to new Bibles, right inside the front cover!

Pastor Ed,

Your statements about your PD illness and how you are dealing with it are extremely beneficial.

I believe that God wants His people to cultivate a realistic balance between the reality of sickness and the idealism of miraculous healing. In 1974 God sovereignly healed me (instantaneously)of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Yet most of the time I simply have to endure sickness. Currently I am dealing with a 12 year long debilitating illness and yet I'm content because I believe God is micromanaging my life. Attitude is everything.

Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration to us all.

You stated: Principles tell us, “Do this and live.” God says, “Live, and you’ll do this.” Because He lives, He offers us the promise of new life, and the power to live the life He calls us to.

I wholeheatedly agree! Paul the Apostle learned that the weaker he was, the greater God's power would manifest in his life - Amen. I'm learning that as well and it's a great journey.
